I was so surprised.. I really like how similar the game is, its like already having a good idea and understanding of how it all works! You can also purchase a new horse for the in game allowance YAY! No more buying star coins hahah You can care for your horse anywhere too, that's handy!
There are a few things I don't like, for example: The map, some of the guiding orange dots are so miniscule and I really have to look hard to find them. Caring for your horse is more demanding, I find myself having to prepare everything before I go on a big ride, I'm going to need food and water because they deplete far too quickly for my liking. The horses also run slower, so the distances feel huge. Especially without a travel car. They can get slightly boring. I also do not like how fast the days go by, you can of course stay the night for free, but it feels like minutes of day light before it gets dark and impossible to see.
So you have to make your way back to a camp so you can stay the night.. Like I said, I haven't played too much, so theres probably more pro's and con's to come. But overall, I'm liking it. What would you guys who have played rate this one? Let me know what you loved and hated about it. Congrats for getting your hands on one. Haha, there is tons of similarities to be found, especially in the first game Autumn Riders.
And yes, I'd really like to have caring ability everywhere on SSO too, it's just so handy. I argee with your dislikes there. As for the map, I find the area to be far too large in later parts in game series the areas are different and much smaller in size, makes it much more comfortable to run from the edge of map to another. Really frustrating when quest wants you to run from edge to another. Yes, horse needs much food and water and becomes very easily and quickly unhappy.
Luckily in Autumn Riders you can gather horse food from nature, no need to buy it at all. In later parts this is no longer an option, all the food must be bought from store. It depends of your screen brightness whether you can see at the night.
But it still won't help if you can see or not, because quests are available only during daytime. And also a small minus for slightly edgier horse models. But when we count on the fact that this is pretty old game and very advanced compared to many other games on the same era, the Star Stables are very beautifully made, that must be given to these games.
Thats a great review! I totally agree that for how old the game is, that it looks just beautiful, kinda makes you wonder how much better SSO could look so many years later, but that a discussion for another thread, as the horses have become more and more beautiful Im still super early into it, and i can't wait to do more, il probably give another small review with updated info when I'm completely finished.
I do really like that they are there, given that SSO has kind of died down for me, all i do is train, so this is a nice game to fill the time between updates. I had no idea that you couldn't do quests at night, i always just spend the night when it starts getting dark XD I just wish they day would stick around a little longer.
I look forward to playing more of it. I've got the same situation with SSO, which was also one reason to create the second account. But that's going to last max. Maybe I should go and fetch my copies at my parents house some day and see if they work on my computer, once I get some kind of a dull moment I could try to get them up and running. Yup, there will be a message about getting late and "all the characters are already sleeping so you can't keep questing at night" -type of a message when it gets dark enough.
Then all the quests disappear from map and you'll see only pink camping place dots on the map. And I agree with daytime being too short. Well, I'll be worse on Winter Riders Daytime will be even more short, inspired of the real life short daylight times in Winter I need some help. I would love the effect of days and night being certain times, unlike Star Stable Online, it'd be more of a Minecraft concept and i'd like the idea of going and getting pictures of the old night.
